ACORN FABRICS QUALITY SHIRTING FABRIC

Based in the traditional heartland of Britain's textile industry, Acorn Fabrics is bringing more
than a touch of dynamism back to this historic area of Lancashire, with its vistas of Victorian
mills and rugged scenery. In fact the Chatburn family, proprietors of Acorn, can point to a
tradition in textiles dating back more than one hundred years and spanning four generations.
In 1985 Acorn moved to modern, purpose-built premises. From here; we design, organise
production, stock, market and distribute some of the finest shirtings available today. Annually,
literally tonnes of fabric are shipped around the world in response to an ever growing global
demand for fine quality and fast delivery.

Design is key:

The majority of the collection is 100% cotton, 36"/90cm wide shirting fabric although, more
recently, Acorn have been able to offer 60"/150cm wide fabric through its Classic Shirtings
sister company. Only natural fibres are used to produce fine quality shirtings in a variety of
different weaves and designs- ranging from traditional oxfords and heavy twills to sheer voiles
and superfine 160's. Acorn offer both classic and contemporary designs, whilst in the Classic
Shirtings range, the traditional patterns are offered but in general, designs are a little bolder.

English Production:

Acorn are one of few companies left that still use production facilities based in England.
Acorn collaborate with a handful of mills based across the North of England, working closely
with each and every one to maintain a high standard of production. Although we can still
weave some of our products in the UK, finishing has to be sent into Europe and then brought
back again for stocking and distribution.

Fabric from stock:

Acorn offer more than 800 items across the two collections. Goods are supplied from stock and
coming round which means that designs are produced and stocked rather than made to order,
enabling a quick response to customer enquiries. If goods are temporarily out of stock, they are
usually replenished unless they have been selected to be discontinued from the range.

No minimum order quantity:

As the fabrics are supplied from stock, there are no minimum order restrictions. We can process
orders from as small as fabric needed for alterations and repairs, to individual shirt lengths ( all
referenced with customers names if required) , through to several hundred metres for larger
production orders.

Marketing and Swatching:

Although the internet is a powerful selling tool, most of Acorn's marketing is done via the
range cards and individual swatches that it produces. Despite the fact that reproduction of
fabric is improving over the internet, in many cases the shirting is sold due to the superior
handle. Larger swatches of anything viewed within this site can be obtained by request.
